OpenAI is internally testing a new update for ChatGPT, at least on the web. It’ll begin rolling out in the coming weeks.

As spotted on X by AI researcher Tibor Blaho, the new ChatGPT web app includes references to a feature called ‘Salute.’

Codenamed Salute, ChatGPT’s new feature allows you to create tasks with file uploads and track their progress.

There are also references to the “is model preferred” flag, which might suggest ChatGPT could soon pick a model specifically optimized for local business, restaurant, and hotel results in business map widgets.

The third big change is support for a new secure tunnel for MCP servers.

“Secure Tunnel connects your internal MCP server to OpenAI via a customer-hosted tunnel client over outbound-only HTTPS, so no inbound firewall changes are needed,” the reference reads.

Last but not least, OpenAI is testing inline editable code blocks and math blocks. This could be similar to the writing blocks we spotted recently.

For those unaware, OpenAI recently added a new “formatting block” to GPT, which is basically a mini editor toolbar that pops up when you highlight text inside ChatGPT’s newer rich-text areas (like the email or writing draft).

This feature update for ChatGPT is gradually rolling out, and it looks like OpenAI will soon add support for math block.
